Who they are
Edmond Halley helped bring Isaac Newton’s gravitational work into print by encouraging him to publish it. Cambridge’s account of the first edition places that intervention in the development of the 1687 Principia. His role here highlights the collaboration and publication work behind a landmark usually identified with a single author.
He connects to the formation and circulation of classical mechanics through the Principia’s publication.
