Who they are
Hantaro Nagaoka proposed an atomic model that Rutherford discussed in the closing section of his 1911 scattering paper. This reference places him among the theoretical predecessors of the concentrated-center picture. His role is an earlier model proposal, rather than coauthorship of Rutherford’s analysis or the Geiger–Marsden experiments.
He provides context for the sequence of competing atomic models.

The Scattering of α and β Particles by Matter and the Structure of the Atom
Rutherford explains large-angle scattering through an atom with a concentrated central charge, drawing on Geiger and Marsden’s experiments. The 1911 argument did not yet settle every feature of atomic or nuclear structure.
