Herbert Rees Wilson
DNA X-ray diffraction researcher
Also known as Herbert Wilson
Who they are
Herbert Rees Wilson was a member of the King’s College team that supplied experimental evidence about DNA structure. With Maurice Wilkins and Alec Stokes, he coauthored one of the three papers published together in Nature in April 1953. His contribution belongs to that experimental study, distinct from Watson and Crick’s separate structural model.
His profile makes a less prominent member of the DNA collaboration discoverable.

Molecular Structure of Deoxypentose Nucleic Acids
Wilkins, Stokes and Wilson present preliminary X-ray evidence for helical nucleic-acid chains and discuss agreement with the Watson–Crick model. Their experimental paper acknowledges remaining ambiguity and the contributions of Franklin and Gosling.
One of three related Nature papers published April 25, 1953; separate from the Watson–Crick and Franklin–Gosling papers.
