Who they are
Michael Hauer is a named coauthor of the 2012 study showing RNA-guided Cas9 DNA cleavage. The manuscript lists Berkeley affiliation and a Basel address. He belongs to the wider research team whose contributions can be lost when the genome-editing story is reduced to its most widely recognized names.
His documented connection is authorship of the original Cas9 study.

A programmable dual RNA-guided DNA endonuclease in adaptive bacterial immunity
Jinek and colleagues explain RNA-guided Cas9 cleavage and test an engineered single guide against DNA in vitro. The paper presents programmable genome editing as a possible application, rather than an already demonstrated therapy.
Science article published online June 28, 2012; issue date August 17, 2012.
