Who they are
Otto Lummer is among the experimental researchers whose radiation measurements are discussed by Max Planck in the 1900 derivation of his spectrum law. His inclusion identifies the empirical work against which the new theory was judged. The cited paper documents that connection without assigning him authorship of Planck’s mathematical derivation.
He represents experimental evidence supporting and testing early quantum theory.

On the Theory of the Energy Distribution Law of the Normal Spectrum
Planck calculates the radiation distribution by counting finite energy elements proportional to frequency. The inspected translation shows the connection to measured radiation data, including work by Rubens and Kurlbaum.
English translation of the 1900 paper; translator unidentified in the inspected reproduction.
