Who they are
Robert Watson-Watt directed British radio research that led into the development of aircraft-detection radar. With assistance from Arnold Wilkins, he prepared a proposal followed by the February 1935 Daventry demonstration. NPL’s history connects this work to an organized air-defense program, making his role one of research leadership and practical development within a wider collaboration.
Radar history is essential background for understanding later military detection systems and the limits of their observations.
