Takanori Tamefuji
JAL 1628 first officer and witness
Who they are
Takanori Tamefuji was first officer on Japan Air Lines cargo flight 1628 when its crew reported unusual lights over Alaska in November 1986. FAA agents’ notes identify him among the interviewed crew. His role is that of a flight participant and witness whose recorded account should be distinguished from both the captain’s descriptions and later interpretations.
His identification helps readers track which crew member was recorded as reporting which observations.
