Who they are
Tony Ortega is the journalist who wrote the 1998 Phoenix New Times investigation The Hack and the Quack. His reporting distinguished different parts of the Phoenix Lights episode and examined witness accounts, telescope observations and military explanations. He appears here because that distinction helps prevent separate sightings from being treated as one uniform event.
His work supplies contemporaneous follow-up reporting and competing explanations for the Phoenix Lights.
